I'm Not Single...

We (Sen, Syeera & Diyana) watched this movie yesterday at GSC Alamanda. Ok...i admit..i don't actually watch Malaysian Movies at cinema(s) except for movies by Yasmin & Deepak. So...yesterday we went for this movie.
“I’m Not Single” tells of a young couple Maya (Lisa Surihani) and Adam (Farid Kamil) who loathe each other because they are forced into an arranged marriage by their parents. Maya’s ailing grandmother wants her to marry as soon as possible despite the fact that she already has a steady boyfriend, Dani (Awal Ashaari). Dani and Maya love each other and had even planned to marry previously. With the arranged marriage looming closer, Dani has to try and figure out how to stop it from taking Maya away from him forever."This movie applies to those who enjoy romantic comedy.
Here's our review :-
Positive :
1) Indera Che Muda, who helmed the cinematography aspect did a good job with the angle and shots;
2) It was funny (good for de-stressing)
3) Lily's costume - nice
4) Good location
Negative :
1) The story starts with narations by Lily through photographs in an album. So...there's nothing mentioned about an ailing grandmother's wish for them to get married (and the grandma ain't that sick) ehem..just that her parents forced her to get married;
2) Like most Malaysian film...i couldn't find some realism / logic in this movie.The salesman can end up at Frasers Hill from the previous scene at the parents bungalow...? Hmmmm, how's that possible...when they were walking ? Hmmmmm.... Why did Dani left his key at his motorbike? Hmmmm...
3) The flashback plot is repeating. Dani was saying the same thing to Maya the same one that Adam told to him? Hope they do it diffrently (ever watch My Girl korean drama - the confession part by Yoo Rin & Gong Chan- beautifully done?)
4) This movie is for adults. Kids plizz....- not suitable to watch
All in all..if you're planning to go for a movie to de-stress...watch this. But if you're not..go for other movies. I am NOT against Malaysian made movies but I look for quality, realism and pragmatism. But then again, this movie only applies to those who enjoy romantic comedy, particularly the ones that resemble the Hollywood mould. For this kind of audience, you would definitely enjoy it & laugh your heart out !

Perak or Penang ?

OR

My frenz keep asking...'hang dari mana nie? Asal mana sebenarnye ?" when i told them i'm going back home to Penang ...and at the same time writing about HRH of Perak on my blog.
Hehehehehe...
Well....i was born in Tapah and then my family moved to Taiping. We stayed there for many years. I love Taiping very much. I studied in Penang. My sister was also in Penang. We speak the 'utara dialek' since Taiping's considered the "tempias Penang" zone. Then...when my late father was diagnosed with brain tumor...we were in Penang because he was admitted in Hospis Penang - till he passed away in September 2004. We moved to penang for good...leaving behind beautiful memories we had in taiping. I go back to Taiping to visit my amachi (grandma), aunties & uncles. Actually it's hard for me to go back sometimes cos the it reminds me of dad...and it breaks my heart everytime i'm there...knowing he's no longer with us (in person).
So....yes I am a Perak-ian. But now Penang is where my family is. So these two places hold a special place in my heart.

good luck sis

Today my sister is sitting for her CLP examination. She worked really hard to be where she is now...and she did it all by herself. She was working at various places to support her studies. She was there taking care of dad when he was in HOSPIS Penang. I look up to her. She may be my younger sister but all this while i've been admiring her for the strength and patience..i respect her for the woman she became. Every day i pray that God will bless her with all the happiness and may all her dream come true.
Good luck sis :)

My best friend Lin & her son Adam

She's my very best friend and I know she feels the same about me. We have a lot of love and respect for each other. One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood. Here's to you my freind ...
I will always be there for you,
and I hope you will be there for me too,
for our friendship can never be broken,
I will remain loyal through all the good and the bad,
and in the end we will be glad,
because without you I am nothing,
for we hold each others secrets that we would never spill,
and the day you're gone,
part of me goes too,
because I wouldn't want to be here without you,
Best friends forever you and me,
nothing could ever change that;
it's destiny!

Kinabalu Quest Part II

Day 02 (4th July 2006)

We slept for a few hours and got up at 12.30 midnight to get ready for the climb to the peak. You've got to make it there by sunrise.It was dark...and i held on to my guide's hand and followed him up (i didn't use the rope). My oh my...only when you're coming down..you'll be saying *damn ! did i climed that steep hill to go up* . You gotta see it to say it. We reached Sayat Sayat and countinued the climb. It was cold, kinda hard to breathe and foggy. It was also drizzling. We took plenty pics and stood amazed looking at God's wonderful art. You feel fullfilment when u reach up...trust me

The climb down was exciting yet hard. We used rope. After reaching Gunting Lagadan we packed everything and started our journey downhill. Damn....our knees felt like they're coming off ! Adding to the pain...stairs...and more stairs. We walked slowly and and gave each other support. Upon reaching Timpohon at 6pm...we were half dead. The hired van took us home and we reached around 9 pm. Took shower and slept like logs. For few days we were walking like someone who just gave birth to triplets...very slowly...holding on to the stairs (we stayed in a double story house)or anything reachable to hold on to. Our remedy - walk backwards...cos the pain'll be less. Fuhh...then came cursing and vows telling ourselves that's the first and last time we climb Mount Kinabalu. Yet...no matter how hard it was....it was one of many the most valuable memories we had in Sabah...

Hmm...would i do it again...? Naahhhh...i'll pass...hehehehe...

It's been 2 years...the Kinabalu Quest Part 1

sunrise at kinabalu

I was in Sabah for two years..2005 to 2007. This date...two years ago...i joined a group friends to climb Mount Kinabalu. 3rd & 4th July 2006. Being a PTD...we've been trained climbing various hills (even witout our slightest interest) but when climbing Kinabalu...we've been advised to build up our stamina and indulge in strenuous exercise before the climb. At just under 4100 meters, Mt. Kinabalu is the highest trekkable mountain in South East Asia. It rises 2500 meters in altitude on a path that is 8700 meters long!

The team
Day 01 (3rd July 2006)

Since my friends and i was the first timer climbers...our sabahan frenz advised us to let the porters carry our backpacks (and the charge is so very cheap compared to the load they're carrying). I just carried my water bottle (wit glucose water). We set off with our guide at 8:00AM up the trail towards Laban Rata (3300 meters). It takes just over five hours of uphill climbing (2500 stairs in addition to the incline!) punctuated with seven rest stops for water refills and trips to the toilet before we made it there. It was drizzling. Had early dinner at Laban Rata (fried rice cost RM13.00 ; hot Milo RM5.00). We stayed at Gunting Lagadan. We were advised to get some sleep and rest...before continuing the climb to the peak very very early in the morning (1.00 am).

To be continued....

one word...

MINDBLOWING !!!

My advice..Go Watch It !
