Sorry...it's been nearly 2 months i blogged anythg here. Been busy shifting from Penang back to Putrajaya...goin back to work... I am back to work... in my first ministry...Tourism. Just started last week..and my assignments varied from attending my 1st SC meeting, PM meeting then flying to Sabah - to attend a meeting on Friday. This is my very new office (on the right) @ Presint 5 (opposite Pullman Hotel)

Trip to Indera Kayangan

MPA 2010/2011 organized this final trip on May 28th, 2011. We visited the grapes farm,manggo (Harum Manis) farm, Gua Kelam, Padang Besar & Kuala Perlis. Along the way...we saw beautiful green paddy fields

First...off to the grapes farm ( seriously ...i never knew we grew grapes here ) ! :@
Then...off to my favourite destination...manggo farm ! I love Harum Manis..the best manggo in Malaysia(p.s : I prefer the Thai version. I loved only the manggo..pulut hmm..nop. Shd try the one in Danok!)

My friday couldn't have be better ! I had a date...with Po...& the gang. 3D. Loved watching Kung Fu Panda 2..seriously hillarious ! Did i mention that Black is the best to play Po ! He is great ! I am actually a BIG fan of AJ...(playing Tigress) of course ...and both Black & AJ plus all the others really made KFP2 such a fun movie to watch !

I also got a chance to meet Adibah Noor (who's flaunting a new short hairdo ...like moi) and got this....

Thank God - no class on May13th!

Yippie :) I could go home on thursday just in time for amma's birthday.

After dad passed...the three of us seldom celebrate anythg. When asked what mum wanted, she just said being with us was enough. After insisting, she wanted to give (donate) food to people. Agreed. On 13th..we wished mum at the stroke of 12 midnite. Morning...mom went to temple. I didn't do much ...sis took care of everythg. Our Masterchef prepared a homemade vegetarian cake (sis is a full time vegan) and also special lunch for mum. Yummy !!! Master chef (my younger sis) indeed...she learned from the best ...tq amma...

Tirumala Venkateswara Temple also known as Tirupati Venkateswara Temple is a famous temple of Lord Venkateswara located in the hill town Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh. The temple is located on the Venkatachalam hill that forms part of the seven hills of Tirumala, and hence the temple is also known as the Temple of Seven HillsSaptagiri.

The temple is the richest and the most visited place of worship in the world.The temple is visited by about 50,000 to 100,000 pilgrims daily, while on special occasions and festivals, like the annual Brahmotsavam, the number of pilgrims shoots up to 500,000, making it one of the most visited holy place in the world.

Off to Thiruvannamalai, a pilgrimage town and municipality in Thiruvannamalai district in Tamil Nadu.

Thiruvannamalai is home to the Annamalaiyar Temple located at the foot of the Annamalai hill and amongst one of the great Shiva Temples of Tamilnadu. Thiruvannamalai has long been associated with many yogis and siddhars, and more recently the 20th century guru Ramana Maharshi.

The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was built between the 16th and the 17th centuries by the kings of the Vijayanagara empire. The temple is famous for its massive gopurams.
The 11 tiered East Rajagopuram towers to a height of 217 feet, while the fortified walls pierced with 4 gopura entrances offer a formidable look to this vast temple complex . The Pei Gopuram, Tirumanjana Gopuram and Ammanaiammal gopuram are the other three. The 1000 pillared hall and the temple tank were built by Krishna Deva Rayarar of Vijayanagar. Each of the prakarams has a huge Nandi and several towers such as the Vallala Maharaja Gopuram and Kili Gopuram.

We had lunch at Saravana Bhavan. Then....we went to see the Vellore Golden temple. Vellore, the 142-year old municipality was crowned as largest Corporation in Tamilnadu on August 2008.It is considered to be one of the oldest surviving cities in South India. The city lies on the banks of the Palar river on the site of Vellore Fort.The city lies between Chennai and Bangalore and the Temple towns of Thiruvannamalai and Tirupati.

SriLakshmi Temple in Sripuram, popularly known as Golden Temple, is a newly built Spiritual Park / Temple in Thirumalaikodi, Vellore. The whole exterior of the temple is laid with gold sheets and plates. The construction of this temple is reported to have cost Rs.300 crores (Rs.3 billion). The temple is surrounded by a vast lush green landscaped area. The temple can only be accessed by going through a star shaped walkway.

Tiruchirappalli commonly known as Tiruchi or Trichy is Tamil Nadu's Fourth largest City after Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore with an estimated population of 1,067,915 (as of 2008). It is situated in the centre of the state, on the banks of the Cauvery River. Trichy is a Municipal Corporation and the administrative headquarters of Tiruchirapalli District. Trichy city encompasses Srirangam, a Vaishnavite temple and the biggest functioning Hindu temple in the world.

Srirangam is famous for its Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, a major pilgrimage destination and one of the largest temple complexes in India.The gopuram of the temple is called the Rajagopuram and is 236 feet (72 m) tall, the tallest in Asia. The temple is replete with excellent carvings and numerous shrines dedicated to various gods.We stayed at the Guru Hotel. The Khurrunji Restaurant was awesome !!! Both food & service ;) We were damn tired but had a nice time there ;)

After spending a nice time at Kodaikanal...our tour continued to Palani .Palani is a city and a municipality in Dindigul district in Tamil Nadu. Palani is pronounced using the special 'L' used in Tamil and is also spelt as "Pazhani" in English. It is located about 60 km from the city of Dindigul. It is a famous pilgrimage town and every year more than 7 million devotees visit the Palani Murugan Temple and offer their prayers to the Lord Muruga. This temple draws the largest number of devotees in Tamil Nadu.

After Bryant Park..we walked around the lake area...and had lunch at Rice & Spice.

Later...we went to The Green Valley.

The Green Valley View, (formerly called Suicide Point) 5.5 kilometers (3 mi) from the bus-stand and near the golf course, has an excellent panoramic view of the plains and a sheer drop of 1,500 meters (4,921 ft) overlooking the Vaigai Dam to the south. The stairway leading up to it is highly commercialized and lined with rows of shops to tempt tourists.

Pillar Rocks, 8 kilometers (5 mi) from the bus-stand, is a set of three giant rock pillars which stand 122 meters (400 ft) high. Managed by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, The viewpoint can be crowded but is not commercialized. There is an excellent public garden adjacent to the viewpoint.

Bryant Park in Kodaikanal This is a wonderfully maintained 20.5 acres botanical garden. The park was planned and built in 1908 by a forest officer from Madurai, H.D.Bryant, and named after him. With 325 species of trees, shrubs and cactuses, the park is a rainbow of stunning flowers during the peak season. A large section is dedicated to nearly 740 varieties of roses. There is a 1857 Eucalyptus tree and a Bodhi tree which adds a religious significance to the park. Ornamental plants are cultivated in a nursery for sale. The park organizes horticultural exhibits and flower shows every summer, to coincide with the peak season. Entrance fee to the park is nominal and it is open all year.

Madurai is the oldest inhabited city in the Indian peninsula. It is referred to with names like Koodal Maanagar, Thoongaa Nagar (Sleepless City), Malligai Maanagar (City of Jasmine) and Athens of the East. It is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and is a municipal corporation situated on the banks of the River Vaigai in Madurai district.The corporation has received several National awards in the year 2008 for implementing development works. The city is also referred to as the Temple city. With a city population of 1,108,755 according to the 2004 estimation, it is the administrative capital of Madurai district. Madurai was the capital city of ancient Southern civilization. Madurai's cultural heritage goes back 2,500 years, and the city has been an important commercial center and has conducted trade as far as Rome and Greece since as early as 550 B.C.E. We stayed at Golden Park Hotel. That morning, we visited the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple or Meenakshi Amman Temple

It is dedicated to Lord Shiva (in the form of Sundareswarar or Beautiful Lord) and his consort, Goddess Parvati (in the form of Meenakshi). The temple forms the heart and lifeline of the 2500 year old city of Madurai. This temple has a stunning architecture and a significant testimony for Vishwakarma Brahmins for their master architecture in sculpting this temple. The complex houses 14 magnificent Gopurams or towers including two golden Gopurams for the main deities, that are elaborately sculptured and painted. The temple is a significant symbol for the Tamil people, and has been mentioned since antiquity in Tamil literature, though the present structure is believed to have been built only recently in the early 17th century. This magnificient architectual wonder was a frontrunner in the election for the modern [seven wonders of the world] for its architectural importance. In 2009, the temple has been selected one of the Seven Wonders of India by NDTV.

The Brihadishwara Temple also known as Rajarajeswaram at Thanjavur, is the world's first complete granite temple and a brilliant example of the major heights achieved by Cholas in temple architecture. It is a tribute and a reflection of the power of its patron RajaRaja Chola I. It remains as one of the greatest glories of Indian architecture. The temple is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Great Living Chola Temples" and this temple is an ultimate testimonial for the vishwakarmas architectural cognizence in planning and sculpting this temple. This temple is one of India's most prized architectural sites.

The famous Tanjore dolls ... The temple stands amidst fortified walls that were probably added in the 16th century. The 'Vimana' - or the temple tower - is 216 ft (66 m) high (about 70 meters) and is among the tallest of its kind in the world. The Kalash or 'Shikhara' (apex or the bulbous structure on the top) of the temple is of monolithic granite weighing 81.25 tons. There is a big statue of Nandi (sacred bull), carved out of a single rock, at the entrance measuring about 16 feet long and 13 feet high. The entire temple structure is made out of hard granite stones, a material sparsely available currently in Thanjavur area where the temple is located.

Later, we went too Pillayarpatti. Karpaka Vinayakar Temple is an ancient rock-cut cave shrine dedicated to Ganesha, located at Pillayarpatti, in the state of Tamil Nadu.
In the cave temple, there are rock cut images of Shiva and other gods as well as several shrines. A unique Tamil image of Ganesha found in the temple helps to verify this dating. The presiding deity of the temple is Karpaka Vinayakar or Desi Vinayaka Pillaiyar.
Today, the Pillayarpatti Nagarathar worshipers are involved in conducting daily worship services in the temple, as well as maintaining it. People from all over the state, as well as great numbers of pilgrims, come here everyday and gather for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival held every year during the months of August and September.

The journey continued to Chidambaram. Chidambaram is a municipality and taluk (tehsil) headquarters in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. It is 11 km from the coast and 240 km south of Chennai by rail. Chidambaram is a major pilgrimage site for Shaivites as the temple there houses the Akasha Lingam of Shiva and is one of the greatest Shiva Temples of Tamilnadu.The Chidambaram Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in His form of the Cosmic Dancer,Nataraja. It is a temple complex spread over 40 acres (160,000 m2) in the heart of the city is one of the great Shiva Temples of Tamilnadu. It hosts the most ancient set of 108 Karana stone carvings, the key dance movements of Nataraja.Loved the sky.

We visited nearly 7 temples around the area and call it day at night. We stayed the night at Tanjavur @ Tanjore. Thanjavur also known by its anglicised name Tanjore, is a municipality and the headquarters of the Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu. It has a population of a quarter of a million and is the Eleventh largest city in Tamil Nadu.The name Thanjavur is derived from "Tanjan", a legendary asura in Hindu mythology. Thanjavur is one of the oldest cities in India and has a long and varied history dating back to Sangam period. The city rose into prominence during the rule of the Later Cholas when it served as the capital of the Chola empire. After the fall of the Cholas, the city was ruled by the Pandyas, Vijayanagar Empire, the Madurai Nayaks, the Thanjavur Nayaks, the Thanjavur Marathas and the British. It has been a part of independent India since 1947.Thanjavur is an important center of South Indian art and architecture. Most of the Great Living Chola Temples, an UNESCO World Heritage Monument are located in an around Thanjavur. The foremost among the Great Living Chola temples, the Brihadeeswara Temple, is located in the center of the town. Thanajavur is also the home of the Tanjore painting, a painting style unique to the region. The town is an important agricultural center located at the heart of the region, known as the "rice bowl of Tamil Nadu".

Firstly...i am sorry for taking some time to update the pics and stories on my India tour. I was sick and still recovering. This India trip was a promise i made to my mom and sis long time ago. Finally, i had the time & cash to take them on the tour. On 27th Mac, we took MH180 (at 9.35pm local time) from KLIA to Chennai (Madras). Arrived Chennai airpot at 10.45pm (M'sian time maybe around 12.30 midnight). Man....i finally had the taste of 'busy India'. Thank God Izzo warned me earlier about the noise factor...OMG...u gotta be there to understand wat i mean.
We were staying at my sister's friend's place in Ambattur. Ambattur is a major municipality in Thiruvallur district in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is an industrial area north-west of Chennai. Though considered a part of Chennai for all practical purposes, Ambattur technically belongs to the Tiruvallur district. Closer to Anna Nagar, Ambattur is a fast developing residential localé of Chennai. Saturday was a relaxing day for us. Since we slept only at the wee hours...it was a much needed rest day. During the day, we also planned for the trip and discussed with the tour operator.

The pilgrimage trip (read : visiting temples overall) started early morning...at 5 am. We stopped for breakfast along the way and i found this ambassador car. The Hindustan Ambassador is a car manufactured by Hindustan Motors of India. It has been in production since 1957 and is based on the Morris Oxford model first made by the Morris Motor Company at Cowley, Oxford in the UK.The Amby, as it is affectionately called is considered the definitive Indian car.

Our first stop was at at MelMaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Temple.

Arghh....been down with flu & headache for the past 3 days...darn ! Maybe due to the uncertain weather nowdays. Gosh...

I hate going to the clinics...but yesterday i had to...after hearing plenty (of constant) nagging from my workmates...hehehehe. I know they care for me ;). The clinic was just beside de ofis... The doctor was ok...but the bill made my eyes roll...it came up to RM50 ! Damn ! Hmm....wat to do... it's time to recover....

Ewww...my medicines... : (

I miss having my (late) father taking me to clicnics whenever I'm sick. It'll also be nice to be with mom and sis at home now...and getting all pampered. Since I am going home today....i hope it'll be a good treatment for me... ; )

Saturday was the day... MU playing against Liverpool.

Morning i was at Alamanda...and sighted a good deal at Nicole. I am not a very brand concious person but i am sure to grab em' when the price is right.

At 8.45pm...the match begun.

Ronaldo put United ahead but three defensive mistakes led to Liverpool goals, and Nemanja Vidic’s second-half sending-off, which preceded the visitors' third goal, put paid to taking any points. Game ended with Liverpool 4, MU 1. Arghhh....nevermind...nevermind... we're still on top with a four point lead. Huh....no more mistakes boys !

Often i am asked who's film (Tamil) from India i love watching. Many might say Maniratnam. My ultimate favourite is Bala's movies. he doesn't make many movies...yet he delivers the best. Bala, the man who has revolutionized Tamil cinema with meaningful and realistic films like- Sethu, Nandha and Pithamagan, has made another masterpiece with his latest Naan Kadavul. I can't wait to watch "Naan Kadavul". Bala's film touches your soul and makes you salute the brave director for making this authentic milestone classic. Watch any of his movies and you'll know. I even read reviews asking Danny Boyle (of Slumdog Millionaire) to take a walk after watching Bala's latest masterpiece (Naan Kadavul) where he brilliantly portrayed the dark and disturbing side of the beggar mafia in places around devotional institutions in the country. Bala has made it hard hitting, raw and riveting, qualities that is lapped up by worldwide connoisseurs of good cinema.

I was introduced to Bala thru his first movie 'Sethu'. Look out for Vikram's brilliant performance and portrayal as the lead role. The hindi remake with Salman Khan was not even at par with the original. U watch and you'll know what i mean.

Nandha...he did a good job with Surya as the lead.

Thirdly came Pithamaghan. Both Vikram and Surya performed exceptionally with Bala as the anchor. I still cry watching reruns of this movie on tv. It's that good.

Now...came the latest flick.. Naan Kadavul with Arya as the lead. It's receiving positive reviews. Without reading reviews i know it'll be good cause i know Bala's ability. I just hope many directors would be like him and stop giving crappy movies. Nowdays i dun even bother watching the latest upcoming Tamil movies. Many may disagree with me and it's their choice. Basic economy theory -when there's demand...there's supply.

As for the local Tamil market, i only prefer and await one director's work - Mr Deepak Menon.If you have watched his 'Chemman Chalai' and 'Challanggai"...u'll know wat i mean. Hat's off to his brilliant team...and hope to see a new movie from em' soon ;)

Today is Ponggal. This festival is celebrated on the 14th of January every year. Pongal has astronomical significance: it marks the beginning of Uttarayana, the Sun's movement northward for a six month period.Pongal signals the end of the traditional farming season, giving farmers a break from their monotonous routine. For Sabahan it's Kaamatan and for Sarawakians it's Gawai. So for indians...it's Ponggal. The festival is celebrated for four days. On, the first day, Bhogi, the old clothes and materials are thrown away and fired, marking the beginning of a new life. The second day, the Pongal day, is celebrated by boiling fresh milk early in the morning and allowing it to boil over the vessel - a tradition that is the literal translation for Pongal. People also prepare savories and sweets, visit each other's homes, and exchange greetings. The third day, Mattu Pongal, is meant to offer thanks to the cows and buffaloes, as they are used to plough the lands. On the last day, Kanni Pongal, meant especially for young single ladies. The celebration is mega in India. In Malaysia...such celebrations can be sighted at estates or Indian villages.

Another great news...India's A.R. Rahman won a Golden Globe for his score in Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" on Sunday, becoming the first Indian composer to strike gold at the annual Hollywood awards.Such a proud moment ;) 'Slumdog Millionaire is Mumbai-based fairy tale set on the gritty streets of Mumbai. It went home with four Golden Globe awards, and became the movie to beat at the Academy Awards.

I was sad neither Ms Jolie nor Mr Pitt won for Changeling and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. Alas...i'm looking forward to Oscars and for sure watching Ms. Jolie's brilliant performance on screen here in Malaysia when the movie opens on 15th January.

Last friday i flew back home (Penang)....and got this on the plane (MAS). Merry Christmas ! Hehehehe. I was home by 9pm. Mom & sis had this cute Christmas tree at home...(we may not be christians...but we're being Malaysians indeed)

;) Saturday we went to Taiping. My aunty had this annual prayer at home...sort of family gathering laa. I was not feeling very well. Mom & aunties did most of the cooking (hahaha) and we helped cleaning and arranging stuff. Prayers & makan-makan session finished around 11 smthg. Continued chit chat...biasa laa jumpe family kan...macam macam ada like ASTRO... ihikss...

Sunday....mom wanted to go to Aulong...the place we stayed before moving to Penang. Wow...everything brought back memories. We went to the market, the shop we always go and also my primary school. I managed to buy my favourite vegetarian kuih and pau.I miss tasting em'...that's the perks of staying in small towns like Aulong and Taiping. The food taste really good and authentic. Hmmm....time changes but memories stay forever...
So happy to be home....hmmmmmmmmm.....

It was Christmas ! Yay ! Holiday ;)... There were not much going around Putrajaya during this time of the year compared to Kay-eL. I've planned to go out with my good friend Muna...spend some time talking(a.k.a gosssiiipiiingg) and catch a movie. Met Muna at Alamanda...had lunch at Pizza Hut before heading to GSC. I was vegetarian do i opted for Pizza Hut..they serve Vege Lover Pizza ;)

After our lunch we watched 'Yes Man' ....a movie about taking chances in life...we laughed our heart out (duh...Jim Carrey movie..wat'd u expect)...and it turned out to be good.. After the movie we strolled Alam for a while before heading home... Muna had this urge for teh tarik...so...on the way we stopped at mamak...and she enjoyed her teh tarik. It was a wonderful day spent with a wonderful friend ;)

meeting...

Last Thursday was a holiday here in Selangor...but i had to attend a meeting at the Parliment with the minister. It was a meeting on the 17th CCEM which we (Malaysia) will host in June 2009.

Parliment was busy as usual...i realized i last attended the parliment sessions in year 2005...before my integration prog in Sabah. The meeting ended around 5pm and i rushed back to Putrajaya to avoid the hectic traffic jam. Thank god for the KL-P (KL-Putrajaya Highway).

Everyone got up early. We actually slept around 2 @ 3 am..packing / chit chat / sharing pics etc ..etc.. The bus took us to the Kansai Airport as early as 7 am. Our (MAS) flight was at 11.10 am. I saw excitement on everyone's face ;). We group-checked-in at the Business Class counter. After we're finished with the imigration and all...we visited some of the duty free shops at the airport before heading to the lounge.MAS shared lounge with All Nippon Air (ANA)...it was ok laa...At 10.40am...we boarded the plane. On board....i watched 'Hancock', 'Get Smart' and listened to songs... while being served with appetizing gastronomy.

Finally...the anouncement we've been waiting for..."Tuan tuan dan puan puan, kita telah mendarat di Lapangan terbang Antarabangasa Kuala Lumpur. bagi tujuan keselamatan.....bla..blaa..bla....". It was 5.25 pm. Fuhh..lega nyer balik ke bumi Malaysia. Hujan emas di bumi orang, hujan batu di negeri sendiri...." Sen paling suka when the lead steward said.."kepada warganegara Malaysia - Selamat pulang" ***goosebumps** man ! It felt soooooo good ;) Home sweeeeet home !

The last day....our final presentation as well as our farewell party. A part of us felt happy that we're going home...and another felt kinda sad leaving JiCA. Wanna see wat we enjoyed eating ? here goes...
